The Youth of the European Union staged a demonstration last Tuesday evening in protest against the administrative bodies. Find out more about how the riot here at The Almond.
Usually we only report on American news, being that it is the most important kind of news, but this is an exception. This past week demonstrations in Geneva, Berlin, and Vienna took the nations by storm. The youth decided that they had had enough of the treatment that they were receiving and demanded more.
"We will no longer stand by and abide by these despicable laws and regulations" -- Protester (but in German)
University students from all over the metropolitan cities gathered in crowds to chant loudly and march in a somewhat organized fashion. However, noise and crowds are two things that police everywhere cannot stand, so they quickly arrived to put a stop to it. Decked out in full riot gear they began to push the rowdy students back with their shields. Oh and also their tear gas.
The Right to Protest is a God given right to us Americans, as long as done politely, but other lesser countries don't have that luxury.
The poor students started screaming and yelling even louder than before, which only escalated the events. Even more mustard and tear gas was being dropped to stop the unnecessarily violent actions of the young crowd. Eventually things got so out of hand they had to chase the students back to their dorms. Police in other countries don't carry guns, which is why they are often not taken seriously by the public and why their countries are so out of order. We would never encounter a problem like this back in the States because it would be shot down as quick as it started. Or simply ignored.
The students plan on converging once again this coming Wednesday and have started a group chat with all local participants. Their childish reactions to adult matters will soon die down, however, and then they will join society and silently trudge along in the trenches like the rest of us until we retire. So have no fear! Things will not change anytime soon!
